A One-of-One Commission by Andy Cadman featuring Museum-Grade Polychromatic Royston Turquoise

There are cuffs… and then there are statements.

This extraordinary commissioned masterpiece by legendary Navajo silversmith Andy Cadman wasn’t built to blend into a collection—it was built to become the centerpiece of one. At nearly 3 inches wide, it carries the unmistakable weight, presence, and confidence that have made Cadman’s finest work some of the most sought-after in contemporary Native American jewelry.

And then there’s the stone.

I’ve handled a lot of Royston over the years. This is honestly among the finest pieces I’ve ever seen.

The turquoise is alive with impossible color—electric blue melting into soft seafoam greens, drifting through warm caramel and golden iron matrix like sunlight breaking across the Nevada desert after a summer storm. Every inch reveals another landscape. Every angle tells a different story.

This wasn’t a stone someone pulled from a tray.

It was a stone worthy of a commission.

Andy surrounded it with an astonishing amount of hand-fabricated sterling silver. Deep, crisp stampwork covers nearly every surface of the massive cuff, while sculpted repoussé elements soften the geometry and create movement throughout the design. It’s bold without feeling heavy—a balance only master silversmiths consistently achieve.

Why This Piece Is Special

Collectors chase Andy Cadman for his unmistakable silverwork, but the very best commissions become something even rarer.

When an artist of Cadman’s caliber is given a truly exceptional stone, the piece stops being about craftsmanship alone. It becomes a collaboration between nature and one of the Southwest’s great living silversmiths.

High-grade polychromatic Royston has become increasingly difficult to source in this size and quality. Material displaying this level of color saturation, intricate matrix, and visual movement is almost never found outside elite collections.

This is the kind of cuff that gets passed around the room at collector gatherings.

Eric’s Note

One of my favorite questions is, “Why does this exist?”

Nobody needed to make a cuff this extravagant. Nobody had to take one of the finest Royston stones imaginable and spend countless hours surrounding it with this much handcrafted silver.

Someone did it anyway.

That’s why I love pieces like this. They’re proof that sometimes people choose excellence simply because excellence deserves to exist. And honestly… that’s a pretty good way to live.
